Multiplayer games can get a little more annoying in that respect maybe companies should allow private servers after a certain point and it functions the same, just not on a corporate server they maintain. That is especially true for single player experiences. There's also potential for good outcomes with "end-of-life" for games where if a company doesn't want to keep supporting login for a game then they should patch out the login check so I can continue to use the game.
